วิธีการควบคุม (Control measure)

 ควบคุมโดยวิธีกล เช่น ใช้แรงงานคนถอน หรือตัดฟันก่อนที่พืชออกดอก หรือใช้วัสดุคลุมดินเพื่อไม่ให้ต้นอ่อนงอกและเจริญขึ้นมาเหนือดินได้   ควบคุมด้วยสารเคมี ใช้สารกำจัดวัชพืชประเภทเลือกทำลายเฉพาะวัชพืชประเภทใบกว้าง เช่น 2,4-D MCPA หรือสารกำจัดวัชพืชที่ไม่เลือกทำลายทำลาย เช่น พาราควอท ไกลฟอเสต หรือใช้สารกำจัดวัชพืชประเภทคลุมฆ่า ก่อนต้นอ่อนงอก หรืองอกแล้วมีใบไม่เกิน 5 ใบ ซึ่งการใช้สารเคมีควบคุมวัชพืช ต้องเลือกสารกำจัดวัชพืชที่ไม่เป็นพิษต่อพืชปลูก และขณะฉีดพ่นต้องไม่ให้ถูกพืชปลูกด้วย เช่น Bentazone, butachlor, 2,4-D, MCPA และ oxidiazon ในข้าว nicosulphuron acetochlor ในข้าวโพด cyanazine, metolachlor, metribuzin และ cinmethylin ในถั่วเหลือง
