อาการของโรคเริ่มจากการเกิดจุดแผลสีน้ำตาลหรือเทาหลังการเข้าสู่ใบพืชของสปอร์เชื้อรา จากนั้นแผลขยายขนาดออกรอบๆ และสร้างเส้นใยออกมาจำนวนมาก ทำให้เนื้อเยื่อพืชยุบตัวลงจนเน่าเละ เมื่อแผลแห้งจะมีรอยไหม้ขนาดใหญ่อยู่บนใบ ส่วนของพืชที่ถูกทำลาย: ใบ

ในประเทศไทย (ปี 2002-2011) มีรายงานสังเกตพบและเก็บตัวอย่างโรคจากต้นจิกในบริเวณสวนต้นไม้ทั่วไปและบ้านพักใน อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดเชียงราย  ในต่างประเทศ ยังไม่มีรายงาน
