ลักษณะอาการที่ต้น พบในระยะข้าวโพดออกไหม เริ่มติดฝัก ต้นจะเหี่ยวและตายทันที โคนมีสีน้าตาล เนื้อเยื่อภายในลำต้นมีลักษณะแห้งเป็นสีดำ อาการที่ฝัก: ฝักจะเปลี่ยนเป็นสีเทาอมน้าตาล ยุบตัวและเน่า ส่วนของพืชที่ถูกทำลาย: ดอก, ใบ, ราก, เมล็ด, ลำต้น
