ใบปาล์มน้ำมันมีจุดแผลสีดำขนาดเล็กล้อมรอบด้วยบริเวณแผลไหม้วงรีสีสนิมขนาดประมาณ 5-10 มม. เมื่อแผลขยายมาเชื่อมกันทำให้เกิดอาการใบไหม้  ส่วนของพืชที่ถูกทำลาย: ใบ

ในประเทศไทยพบเชื้อนี้ครั้งแรกในปาล์มน้ำมันที่ปลูกในจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ เดือนเมษายน ปีพ.ศ.2557 เชื้อนี้พบในแหล่งปลูกปาล์มและพืชวงศ์พริกมะเขือ (solanaceae) ในหลายภูมิภาค เช่น Oceania, Afrotropic, Antarctic, Australasia, Indo-Malaya, Nearctic, Neotropic, Palearctic

วิธีการควบคุม (Control measure)

ปลูกพืชพันธุ์ที่ต้านทานต่อโรค ใช้สารเคมีกำจัดเชื้อราบนต้นที่เป็นโรคและแช่เมล็ดพืชในสารกำจัดเชื้อรา ทั้งสารเคมี หรือชีวภัณฑ์ กำจัดเศษซากพืชที่เป็นโรค และปรับปรุงดินให้มีความชุ่มชื้นพอเหมาะ ดินไม่แห้งจนเกินไป
