สภาพแวดล้อมที่เหมาะสมของการเกิดโรค (Favorable condition)

เชื้อโรคจะเจริญเติบโตได้อย่างรวดเร็วที่อุณหภูมิ 30-35^oC ความชื้นสูง

วิธีการควบคุม (Control measure)

-ฆ่าเชื้อที่ผิวเมล็ดด้วย 0.5, sodium hypochlorite ก่อนนำไปปลูก
-ปลูกพืชหมุนเวียนอย่างน้อย 3 ปี
-ปรับปรุงโครงสร้างดิน และค่าความเป็นกรดด่าง ตลอดจนความสมดุลของธาตุอาหารในดิน โดยการใช้ปุ๋ยหมัก – ปุ๋ยคอก และปูนขาว (ความเป็นกรดด่างที่เหมาะสมในการปลูกแตงกวาอยู่ที่ประมาณ 5.5 – 7.5) มีการให้ธาตุแคลเซียมโดยการฉีดพ่น ทุก 7 – 10 วัน โบรอนก่อนพืชออกดอก 1 ครั้ง และแมกนีเซียมโดยการใช้ปูนขาวในขั้นตอนการเตรียมดิน หลีกเลี่ยงการให้น้ำเปียกใบพืชนานเกินไป
