ลักษณะอาการทั่วไป:  ใบแสดงอาการสีแสดจากปลายใบโดยเริ่มที่ใบล่างๆ และพัฒนาเป็นสีแสดทั้งใบยกเว้นเส้นกลางใบ ขอบใบจะม้วนเข้าหากลางใบ และแห้งไป ต้นข้าวจะแตกกอลดลง แต่มีความสูงปกติ ต้นที่เป็นโรคจะแห้งตายอย่างรวดเร็วใน 2-4 สัปดาห์หลังจากปรากฏอาการของโรค  ต้นข้าวแสดงอาการใบสีแสดทั่วทั้'งต้น และทุกระยะการเจริญเติบโต
